Of Transformers, Donuts, Dim Sum, and Mango Loh

The chronicles of my immediate past weekend - trying to forget exams and sick children (I'm currently posted to paediatrics), and armageddon (the final exam)! Sigh, who am I to fool... anyways...

Transformers rocks big time! Went into the cinema with high expectations, came out in awe! Totally awesome! Optimus Prime's voice can kick Darth Vader's arse anytime! "Autobots, roll out!"

Living room
Had been hibernating in our cosy little hiding hole me and Rachel acquired not long ago. It's a 3-room condominium strategically located in Damansara Perdana. It is located within walking distance from Ikano Power Centre, The Curve, CineLeisure and Ikea. 1Utama is within a stone's throw!

"Action" room - where most of the sleeping action takes place

My hacking basement. John McClane: "You call this basement? Ha Ha Ha!"

The guys have been wanting to go to the Laundry Bar at Curve. So here's a view of the bar, taken from the third floor of CineLeisure.

Laundry Bar is at the left corner - there are tables and chairs in open space for al-fresco dining.

The fountain that separates Curve and CineLeisure. The colourful pointed roofs in the middle are that of the flea market stalls.

We were surprised to see The Big Apple Donuts being flocked by so many customers - the one in Jusco Seremban 2 chase flies most of the time. We decided to give Big Apple Donut a second chance, and guess what...

The donuts are definitely better than those found in Jusco Seremban. I wonder why the double standard? I mean why sell inedible donuts to Seremban people and tasty donuts to Damansara people? :P

The Little Dim Sum Place @ SS2

Iced longan drink and chinese tea.

Angmoh enjoying dim sum! Slurps...

Siew mai and salad prawn

Fried yam

Banango Fritters - with banana, mango, shrimps, and meat as fillings

Fried fun cheong (rice noodles)

The killers

We then adjourned to the dessert place next to Little Dim Sum Place, called KTZ (Kai Tak Zek), for their famous "mango loh".

Foreground: Mango Loh - damn sedap loh!

[steve]:
that's my nest, no renting! took us quite sometime to decor. staying near Ikea sure helped! we go makan after my exam in Aug lah.

[celestine]:
still on bruised and deformed nail, haha. no, i doubt it would revert back to that cute toe you once had. the injury to the nail bed is called avulsion injury, and in your case it was severe enough to cause your toe nail to fall off. the nail bed then heal by scarring, and gets contracted. the new nail that grows over the scar would be deformed too :(
i'm not a seasoned runner, and that was my first time gettin that bruised toe. i'd say it's quite common or else they wouldn't have named it runner's nail!

Your hidey hole looks kinda packed, except for your 'action room'. You really filled up every nook and cranny with stuff.

Looks like you had a gluttony weekend, ROFL.

As for Big Apple Doughnuts, why, oh, why, do people want to pay so much for Lifesaver-shaped dough these days?

[poohbearee]:
it's in damansara, pj.

[steve]:
no worries, i hear lawyers are better off than doctors. hahaha...

[jonzz]:
it's the smallest unit, and hence the term "hiding hole". action room is kinda small too, so my actions are kinda restricted. haha! and do not try Seremban's Big Apple Donuts! LOL!

LOl sorry ya dunno was your foot hehe.Aiya, its called the runner's toe lar,bit hypoxia over the toe after constant pressure and long mileage, very normal one lar else see a podatrist,as long the nail on the toe still intact im sure it will heal itself if u dont compress too much when u wear your shoe. What shoe u wearing?some shoes aggravate the whole thingy one u know

K.K. said...

haha, you've clearly forgotten your anatomy Dr. Ray! Big toe very different from thumb y'knw!

I'm wearing this New Balance RT901 I bought in April. It's light, but I don't think it has good cushioning. Then again I might be wrong coz i'm a newbie in this running thingy. Wore it during training, but Penang Bridge was the first marathon with that pair of shoe. What do you think? Is it the shoe that i need to change?

Raymond said...

Well...a good marathon shoe needs good cushioning and support and your NB901 has all those qualities, however it could be the pronation of your foot that caused all the unnneccesary discomfort subsequently the haematoma.Try go for a foot scan,i used a NB speed races for my spore marathon last year and did a PR but my foot suffer post race lor hehe

K.K. said...

so my NB901 is a good shoe afterall! have been thinkin of getting my feet scanned after the toe haematoma. will definitely do it before S'pore Marathon tis coming Dec!

did a PR for marathon? wats dat? i only know per rectal for dat acronym.

see you on Sunday!
