Steamboat

My family members love steamboats. I grew up in a family whose every dinner must consist of a large bowl of SOUP without fail. Without the bowl of soup, everyone would start complaining of dysphagia.

Mum decided we go steamboat and we headed to this Farmland Porridge Steamboat Restaurant located along Jalan Pudu. It is next to the very famous Pudu Curry Fish Head.

Instead of the normal soup-based steamboat, this restaurant serves plain porridge. The dishes were nothing to shout about; the portions were small. There's nothing so special about it really, and I don't understand why this restaurant was always jammed-packed with customers.

It costs us RM140++ for five person. About RM30 per person. The verdict? Not worth it, tak sedap!

Two days later, mum decided not to cook again and we headed to another steamboat haunt in Yulek, Cheras. This Choong Huat Restaurant serves the normal soup based steamboat - we ordered the herbal soup variety.

Besides the many side dishes for steamboat, they also serve Grilled Chicken Wings (siu kai yik, ngo choong yi sek, dan hai nei lou mou kong nei chao fai teng!), Ikan Bakar, and Satay. We ordered the standard 3-person portion for steamboat and a plate of grilled sotong (squids). The curry powder marinated squids were FANTASTIC!

This is the portion for 3 person - there were 4 of us. The bill came at RM48.
The verdict - good value for money, sedap, enjoyed it.
